Psalms 107

BOOK 5

The Lord Delivers Men from Manifold Troubles.

1 Oh agive thanks to the Lord, for bHe is good,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
2Let cthe redeemed of the Lord say so,
Whom He has dredeemed from the hand of the adversary
3And egathered from the lands,
From the east and from the west,
From the north and from the
Lit sea
south.

4They gwandered in the wilderness in a
Lit waste
desert region;
They did not find a way to
Or a habitable city; lit a city of habitation
an inhabited jcity.
5 They were hungry
Lit also
and thirsty;
Their lsoul fainted within them.
6Then they mcried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He delivered them out of their distresses.
7He led them also by a
Or level
,
ostraight way,
To go to
Or a habitable city; lit a city of habitation
,
qan inhabited city.
8 rLet them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness,
And for His
I.e. wonderful acts
wonders to the sons of men!
9For He has tsatisfied the
Or parched
thirsty soul,
And the vhungry soul He has filled with what is good.

10There were those who wdwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death,
xPrisoners in
Lit affliction
misery and
Lit irons
chains,
11Because they had aarebelled against the words of God
And abspurned the accounsel of the Most High.
12Therefore He humbled their heart with labor;
They stumbled and there was adnone to help.
13Then they aecried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He saved them out of their distresses.
14He afbrought them out of darkness and the shadow of death
And agbroke their bands apart.
15 ahLet them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness,
And for His
I.e. wonderful acts
wonders to the sons of men!
16For He has ajshattered gates of bronze
And cut bars of iron asunder.

17Fools, because of
Lit the way of their transgression
their rebellious way,
And albecause of their iniquities, were afflicted.
18Their amsoul abhorred all kinds of food,
And they andrew near to the aogates of death.
19Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He saved them out of their distresses.
20He apsent His word and aqhealed them,
And ardelivered them from their
Or pits
destructions.
21 atLet them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness,
And for His
I.e. wonderful acts
wonders to the sons of men!
22Let them also offer avsacrifices of thanksgiving,
And awtell of His works with joyful singing.

23Those who axgo down to the sea in ships,
Who do business on great waters;
24They have seen the works of the Lord,
And His
I.e. wonderful acts
wonders in the deep.
25For He azspoke and raised up a bastormy wind,
Which bblifted up the waves
Lit of it
of the sea.
26They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths;
Their soul bdmelted away in their misery.
27They reeled and bestaggered like a drunken man,
And
Lit all their wisdom was swallowed up
were at their wits’ end.
28Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
And He brought them out of their distresses.
29He bgcaused the storm to be still,
So that the waves
Lit of it
of the sea were hushed.
30Then they were glad because they were quiet,
So He guided them to their desired haven.
31 biLet them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness,
And for His
I.e. wonderful acts
,
bkwonders to the sons of men!
32Let them blextol Him also bmin the congregation of the people,
And bnpraise Him at the seat of the elders.

33He
Or turns
,
bpchanges rivers into a
Or desert
wilderness
And springs of water into a thirsty ground;
34A brfruitful land into a bssalt waste,
Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
35He
Or turns
,
buchanges a
Or desert
wilderness into a pool of water
And a dry land into springs of water;
36And there He makes the hungry to dwell,
So that they may establish
Or a habitable city; lit a city of habitation
,
bxan inhabited city,
37And sow fields and byplant vineyards,
And
Lit acquire fruits of yield
gather a fruitful harvest.
38Also He blesses them and they camultiply greatly,
And He cbdoes not let their cattle decrease.

39When they are ccdiminished and cdbowed down
Through oppression, misery and sorrow,
40He cepours contempt upon
Or nobles
princes
And cgmakes them wander chin a pathless waste.
41But He cisets the needy
Lit in an inaccessibly high place
securely on high away from affliction,
And ckmakes his families like a flock.
42The clupright see it and are glad;
But all cmunrighteousness shuts its mouth.
43Who is cnwise? Let him give heed to these things,
And consider the colovingkindnesses of the Lord.
